Creating, implementing and sustaining innovation in schools is a challenging endeavor for administrators, teachers and thought-leaders alike. Identifying what will best serve the needs of children, while inspiring them as life-long learners, is both invigorating and daunting. Recognizing historical antecedents that play a role in resistance to moving the schools forward is of critical importance. Learning how to learn is the key, regardless of formal environment, geographic location, or other external factors. In the words of Socrates, "Education is the kindling of a flame, not the filling of a vessel".

This session will address the following questions:

  • What can we learn from the one-size-fits-all approach to teaching/learning in our country to move the education system forward into the 21st century?
  • How can we leverage ALL stakeholders to play an active role of inspiring children?
  • Why is it of central importance that we craft a laser-focused vision, clear goals, and manage obstacles and changes that emerge along the way?
  • What does the future hold in terms of supporting a learning culture for our youth?
  • How can we embrace some common philosophies and strategies to develop a ""toolkit for success"" as it relates to change, growth-mindset and shapeshifting to lead and grow as educators?

This session will include an overview of the following:

  • Superconnect as an agent of influence
  • Theory of Change
  • Diffusion of Innovations
  • Brief history of the education system
  • Brief, general forecast the needs of educators and learners
  • Toolkit for leading, inspiring and empowering learners amidst the waters of change
